I was born and raised in Connecticut, where I grew up with two loving parents and my brother. During those early years, I developed a passion for softball and education. That dedication led me to play for the U.S. Junior National Softball Team, competing overseas in Italy, and later graduating summa cum laude from Eastern Connecticut State University.

But the blessings in my life didn’t come without hardship.
In 2009, when I was just 12 years old, my mother and I were in a car accident—one we could not have prevented. The accident left her permanently disabled, and because we didn’t have health insurance at the time, her medical bills overwhelmed our family and ultimately led us into bankruptcy. The emotional and financial weight of that experience shaped my childhood and stayed with me into adulthood.

Years later, in 2024, I faced another devastating loss. My father—healthy, active, and full of life—suffered a sudden massive heart attack that took his life. In the midst of grief, we discovered that his health coverage wasn’t fully comprehensive, leaving us responsible for significant out‑of‑pocket expenses.
